Hi there! I'm Emma. I'm an undergraduate at Haverford College, near Philadelphia, majoring in urban studies and computer science. I'm also the director of technical support at Modrinth, where I've worked since 2021.
I am an advocate for public transit and for free and open-source software. I believe that accessibility is one of the largest hurdles to both human transportation and software, and I see public transit and open-source software as the solutions to these problems. I commit to these causes in my personal life by not owning a car and by using Linux on my personal computers.
My technical experience has brought me to begin a research assistantship in the AI and Society Lab at Haverford, where I am focusing on how artificial intelligence is affecting speech and surveillance in our democracy. For a preview of the work I am doing here, check out our Government AI Files website.
